A native New Yorker now residing
in beautiful Susquehanna County, PA, Warren Furman is a composer, artist,
furniture designer and occasional programmer. His music has received
many accolades and has been heard in concert, at music festivals and on FM
stations in the USA and abroad. His digital art has only recently begun
to be submitted to real world galleries, but may be found in many
online. The US Airforce Reasearch Laboratories recently installed
twenty-one of his works in its new facilities in Rome, NY.
His “plumbing tables” are an
offshoot of a long composing hiatus and an appreciation for the beauty and
versatility of the materials he used to replace the plumbing in his New York
City home. They became his artistic outlet for several years and have since
found their way into many fine homes. The bases used to be
made with Stanley Flagg fittings, but they went out of business and bronze
fittings have just about disappeared, too. The same thing can be said
about various other parts he liked to use. He uses only copper fittings
now and epoxy adhesives rather than solder.
"I used to supply the glass tops, Belgian lites
with a distinctive dark green cast. They often arrived scratched or
chipped, however, and had become very expensive. I ask that customers
supply their own tops now." Warren's tables have been sold by
Sloans, NYC, Rose Cumming on Park Avenue and Russ Steele Antiques in East
Hampton.
