About iD Magazine

iD Magazine is a plan to unify the world with the healing effects of the arts while improving the culture in many cities across the globe. iD Magazine (pronounced id, like ego, super ego, id) made a powerful impact with a lasting impression on at least a few people in Jacksonville, FL USA.

More than a decade ago, iD Magazine evolved from an arts festival Program named SPARK, which served as a schedule of events for the 1991 Explosion of the Arts street festival sponsored by A City of Expression (more details on A City of Expression are available on the Arts Organizations page).

SPARK quickly became a full-fledged arts publication and was renamed iD Magazine. The Explosion of the Arts II festival took place the following year, but A City of Expression unfortunately disbanded before Explosion of the Arts III could occur.

iD Magazine contained advertisements, artwork, cartoons, interviews with local artists and bands, photography, poems, short stories, etc. and was distributed in the early 1990s mainly within the Five Points shopping district. iD Magazine 2002 is the rebirth and expansion of an original plan by A City of Expression. One day it will hopefully become a powerful network of arts magazines reporting about arts scenes in many cities around the world.
The accompanying global network of street festivals would become Explosion of the Arts III.

Today, the idea of iD Magazine becoming the world's largest publication has the potential to affect a substantial number of arts enthusiasts spanning the globe. Readers worldwide will benefit from iD Magazine in many ways including:

1. Gaining another highly useful venue that will provide a means to enjoy quality art in a variety of ways. With the click of a mouse, viewers can experience a part of their city's culture or the culture of a far away land from anywhere, even the comforts of their own home

2. Playing the most important role (as readers) in online and printed magazines and participating in worldwide arts events such as Explosion of the Arts III. These events will be produced by a global network of people of all ages and cultures working together to promote world unification and the universal healing effects of the arts

3. Allowing the young to become better educated in all aspects of the arts from within a classroom environment or from home by an effective learning tool (iDucation) that could possibly make a positive and lasting impact on the youths' lives through increased arts awareness

4. Having at their fingertips a publication (produced by the newspaper industry) that could possibly play a role in the improvement of international communications, with publications printed in all languages to eliminate a communication barrier (this could lead to better political relations between nations around the world)

5. Witnessing the creation of a new biennial Olympics of the Arts (iDlympics) that will unite all fellow arts enthusiasts worldwide in experiencing the work of the world's top artists. This Olympics of the Arts would occur every other Art Day (every other July 2nd) and will allow modern society to witness a rebirth of the original Olympics spirit, which celebrated the arts and sports in harmony

Please keep in mind that the iD Magazine Web site was created in December 2002, a decade after the original iD Magazine stopped publishing and just before a potential world war on terrorism. We are constantly updating iD Magazine and will continue to attempt to find the best way to feature art. We hope that you may be willing to become an editor of a page or know someone who may be interested in participating. We also hope that you will ask your local newspaper to review our plan. Additionally, you can publish iD Magazine in your community (see the Business Opportunities page). Please enjoy the old and new iD Magazines and don't hesitate to contact us with your ideas, as the plan definitely needs your help and your suggestions for improvement.
